Knowledge that gives rise to both innovation and scientific discovery is a key to socio-economic developments within countries. Therefore, those countries that have a highly skilled and developed human resource tend to progress rapidly in economic growth. Research leads to innovation and the application of research to improve products and the quality of life should be the overreaching goal. However, research is not an activity that is carried out in a vacuum. Research is no longer an individual endeavour, but requires team effort and involves collaboration between institutions and industry. This is where ORIC plays a vital role in focusing research groups, highlighting discoveries and connecting researchers with industry.
