Quality objectives are only meaningful if they are measured. The Directorate maintains a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) against which the University's quality performance is tracked, and converts them into yearly quality objectives with named owners and target values.

Indicators commonly tracked

  • Percentage of courses covered by the student course evaluation survey
  • Average course evaluation and teacher evaluation scores
  • Student–teacher ratio, by programme
  • Pass rates, CGPA distribution and repeat rates
  • Student retention, progression and on-time completion

Programs and review

  • Number of programs reviewed in the cycle against the number due
  • Percentage of review findings closed within the agreed deadline
  • Number of programs accredited, and the councils concerned
  • Curricula revised within the last review period

Faculty

  • Percentage of faculty holding a PhD
  • Faculty strength against sanctioned posts; attrition
  • Training hours delivered per faculty member per year
  • Faculty satisfaction score from the faculty survey

Research

  • Publications per faculty member; citations
  • Research grants secured
  • MS/MPhil and PhD completion rates and average time to degree
  • Supervision load against HEC limits

Stakeholders and service

  • Alumni satisfaction and employment rate of graduates
  • Employer satisfaction score
  • Survey response rates across all instruments
  • Complaints received and resolution time

Setting yearly objectives

At the start of each academic year the Directorate proposes quality objectives derived from these indicators — specific, measurable, assigned to an owner and time-bound. Progress is reported at management review, and the closing position becomes the baseline for the following year.
